Early recognition and treatment of respiratory flu symptoms can help you relieve the most bothersome symptoms. If you have the respiratory flu, health experts suggest:

Flu Relief Tips
  • Get plenty of bed rest.
  • Drink lots of fluids.
  • Keep the air moist.
Health experts recommend the flu vaccine for 
anyone over 65, or anyone with a chronic medical condition such as heart, lung or kidney disease.

If symptoms persist for several days or get worse, consult your doctor.
Flu Prevention Tips
  • Wash your hands frequently.
  • Avoid hand-to-eye and hand-to-nose 
    contact, especially after being in contact 
    with someone who has a cold.

You may have been told to "starve a fever and 
feed a cold," but this may not be the best way 
to get better. When suffering from a cold:

  • Wash your hands frequently.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, or mouth.
  • Avoid contact with those who have colds or flu.
  • Ask you doctor about a flu vaccine.
